Plan For
Redevelopment
Hired Black
River Design to conduct a feasibility study and supervise the
renovations.
In the winter
of 2003, a crew from the VT Department of Corrections was hired
to do basic demolition, which included removing old carpets, floor
tiles, dropped ceilings, broken fixtures, and damaged insulation.
They exposed the beautiful bones of this old building -- well
preserved wooden floors, undisturbed wooden wainscoting, ceiling
molding above the sliding wall and old blackboards.
EF Wall began
construction in the first week of April 2004. The first floor
was complete by September 2004.
EF Wall will
continue renovations during the summer of 2005. The final renovations
will include finishing the second floor, painting the finish coat
on the exterior, paving the driveway, restoration of the unique
rising wall between two of the classrooms and landscaping.
